Simulation and Optimization Senior Analyst
Work location: Shell Energy Campus, Czerwone Maki 85

Job description:

  • Engaging with various stakeholders in the supply chain on the value of resources optimization with aid of simulation techniques and how this can be done to drive gap to potential closure.

  • Collection of (demand) data from various source system, categorizing and visualization in a meaningful way to jointly (with business owner) make a good forecast of future demand.

  • Coaching of analysts, experts and schedulers in the asset in relevant data collection and assumption making process to develop and configure simulation and optimization models.

  • Modelling and programming of relevant, fit-for-purpose discrete event simulation models and/or other optimization models (e.g. Python, R advanced Excel/VBA automated deterministic models).

  • Verifying and validating models by applying systematic methods to compare modelled behaviours and outcomes with reality.

  • Provide Network Optimization/design, Capacity Planning or Integrated Scheduling support by applying relevant models and execution of scenario-based analysis.

  • Analyse simulated outcome, translation of the data into compelling business cases and visualization of data in PowerBI and/or Spotfire.

  • Presentations of findings, conclusions and recommendation to senior business stakeholders.

  • Provide expertise and build local competency to enable business to run their own simulation and optimizations;

  • Assist MSC Asset teams in the actual implementation of dedicated simulation and optimization tools /model to ensure the replication of planning and scheduling practices; hands-on support;

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in information technology, computer science, business administration supply chain, or a related discipline.

  • Certified in Agile, SCRUM or Continuous Improvement (e.g. Lean Practitioner)

  • Preferably experience and/or certified in Supply Chain

Leadership skills

  • Have strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills. Is highly experienced in communicating with business at all levels.

  • Comfortable to work with global stakeholders, internally and externally.

  • Experience of working in a global business environment/different cultures.

  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and balancing multiple priorities.

Technical skills

  • Discrete Event Simulation (preferably FlexSim and/or SIMIO)

  • Optimization skills (e.g. Advanced Excel & VBA coding, GMOS NetSim, AIMMS)

  • Data visualization PowerBI (or Spotfire)

  • Preferably:

    • Various other design and coding skills (R, Python, Matlab, other)

    • Supply Chain (data) management systems (SAP, STAR, GLMS, track-and-trace, etc.)

    • Other Data Science and Data engineering tools (e.g. Alteryx, MySQL, MS Azure)
