Junior Data Scientist/Statistician will be responsible for building predictive models using statistical and data mining methods within Anti Money Laundering Optimization program. Junior Data Scientist/Statistician will conduct statistical analyses and optimization of transaction monitoring system in Citi. This position requires ability to process transactional data and execute complex statistical analyses, data visualizations and algorithm simulations.This is an opportunity to create and implement new projects in Citi, and practice your English on everyday basis.

This position requires ability to execute complex statistical analyses, data visualizations and algorithm simulations. Strong background in statistical techniques such as parameters estimation and hypothesis testing is required. Requirements include programming experience with data analysis, data processing and statistical tools (R/SAS, Oracle, Big Data as an advantage). Fluency in English and very good written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build predictive models and data driven rules to assess the risk of money laundering activities.
• Design and optimize detection algorithms/rules in the very large financial monitoring system based on extensive data mining and statistical analyses.
• Implement models and algorithms. Assure efficiency, stability and scalability of the solution.
• Maintain high quality code and model development documentation.
• Conduct data-driven analyses and reports; apply qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods; prepare statistical and non-statistical data exploration.
• Provide data pulls and reports directly from Oracle database. Write SQL queries in large database environment.
• Detect data anomalies and identify source of data problems. Recommend data quality solutions.

Requirements:

• Master degree in technical science/mathematics/statistics/quantitative methods
• Basic experience in data mining methods and their application in business practice
• Minimum of 1 year of experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, and Data Marts/Data Warehouses
• Minimum of 1 year of experience with SAS and SQL
• Strong programming and statistical/data analytical skills
• Proficiency in data visualization and scripting/programming languages (VBA, SAS 4GL,SQL/PL-SQL, R)
• Experience in providing the results of analyses in clear written form and presenting the findings to the audience
• Initiative, creativity and attention to details
• Ability to work under close supervision of senior team member, while preserving independence of thinking and responsibility for the results
• Ability to discuss reasoning, critical assessment of facts and opinions
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
