The Role:
The position will provide support in cost controlling area to Norway Reports & Analysis team and is an integral part of the Upstream Projects Norway business team. The Norway Projects (PT) business delivers well engineering projects, well interventions to create or maintain value from incremental production across our existing portfolio as well as plug and abandonment activities to ensure wells are abandoned safely whilst maximizing value in execution. The role will also have exposure to new exploration opportunities and contribute to Norway growth portfolio.
Who will you work with?
- You will be part of Norway Upstream Report & Analysis team based in Krakow
- You will virtually support and work closely with Upstream Project (PT) business team in Norway
What will you do?
- Identify, flag and discuss with PT business opportunities for cost reduction and contract performance improvement
- Day to day monitoring of contract performance and ensure accurate cost recording (Value of Work Done)
- Liaise with budget holders to assure effective use of the company’s capital (timely identification of overestimates as well as early warnings on overspent)
- Deliver inputs to annual Operations Plan (OP) for the project and Work Program & Budget (WP&B) for JV partners
- Report on project performance, deliver Latest Estimates (quarterly forecasting), monthly and quarterly reporting, including identified opportunities and threats
- Oversight of effectiveness of invoicing process, advise on potential improvements and challenge missing process elements required for effective and efficient costs management
- Maintain fit-for-purpose project master data to enable efficient cost control
- Act as Finance representative during daily/weekly/monthly PT operational meetings
- Support projects reconciliation process
- Handle ad-hoc requests for project costs insights and management information
Requirements:
- Professionally qualified Cost Engineer or Finance Specialist with 5+ years post-qualification experience in the field of cost control, accounting or controlling
- Having thorough understanding of projects management environment allowing quality cost control
- Strong interpersonal skills capable of working closely with and influencing other staff at all levels within finance and the PT business
- Ability to work in virtual teams and regardless of formal organization lines (effective collaboration within natural working teams)
- Enthusiastic high energy individual that is keen to work in an area that operates at the very heart of the Shell Upstream business
- Self – starter, able to work independently, taking initiative for own work and that of other staff where appropriate
- Willing for hands-on involvement in solving day-to-day and significant unusual problems
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on elimination of non-value adding activities and automatization of processes
- With excellent communication skills in English
- Solid Microsoft Office Skills. Experience in SAP would be an advantage
- Experience or willingness to learn Power BI would be an advantage
