Your role

We're looking for a Data Engineer to:

• transform data into valuable insights that inform business decisions, making use of our internal
data platforms and applying appropriate analytical techniques
• engineer reliable data pipelines for sourcing, processing, distributing, and storing data in
different ways, using data platform infrastructure effectively
• Work with ETL tools to ingest and transform data sets from a variety of data sources
• ensure the quality, security, reliability, and compliance of our solutions by applying our digital
principles and implementing both functional and non-functional requirements.
• build observability into our solutions, monitor production health, help to resolve incidents, and
remediate the root cause of risks and issues
• understand, represent, and advocate for client needs
• Engage actively in Agile planning including story refinement, demos and retrospectives
• provide thought leadership by researching best practices, conducting experiments, and collaborating with industry leaders
• develop and maintain data repositories at UBS from a business perspective and proactively identify opportunities to leverage them to devise and implement data-driven business solutions

Your team

You'll be working in the IB Financing CDIO team in Krakow or India.

In our agile operating model, crews are aligned to larger products and services fulfilling client needs and encompass multiple autonomous pods. You’ll be working in the Risk and Margin team focusing on building out our central data store on ADLS on cloud designing the data pipelines and storage solution to make data available for analytics/ reporting.

Your expertise

• comprehensive understanding and ability to apply data engineering techniques, from event streaming and real-time analytics to computational grids and graph processing engines
• Strong competence in SQL and database design with a solid understanding of data architectures (e.g. Databases, data lakes)
• Hands on experience with a cloud platform is essential, ideally within the Azure Data ecosystem, with Azure Databricks, Data Factory, Data Lake, and Synapse
• curious to learn new technologies and practices, reuse strategic platforms and standards, evaluate
options, and make decisions with long-term sustainability in mind
• fluent in one of Python and/ or Scala, experience on the Linux environment and ideally some experience with PySpark
• Being able to write production level code (well-written and explainable)
• Knowledge of Git version control
• Demonstrable experience of working with APIs
