In this role, as a founding member of the new Shell Ethics and Compliance (E&C) Assurance team, you will define, develop, implement and successfully deliver (directly and indirectly – within Shell and through third party services) (forensic) analytical data and insights to support and enable E&C assurance activity and to derive overall trends and learning that will contribute to a holistic overview of E&C Programme effectiveness across businesses and functions and at an enterprise level.
Building on your substantial experience as an analytics professional and leader you will execute the following responsibilities:

Develop a roadmap and strategy for a demand and resourcing framework for E&C analytics (whether internal resources – directly or indirectly reporting – or external service providers);

supervise and develop a small team of E&C analytics professionals (expect to start building this team in 2022 after the programme has been designed and developed in 2021);
-
to scope, set-up, manage and successfully deliver a capability to collect, collate, analyse and learn from E&C related data – to identify assurance needs, to support assurance activities, and to highlight the overall effectiveness of the E&C programme;
-
deliver analytics to contribute to the framing and prioritisation of assurance activities;
-
deliver analytics to support the execution of assurance activities (eg, input to E&C audits);
-
develop and maintain the necessary professional and technical analytics skills, including external insights and benchmarking on regulatory expectations and industry practice regarding analytics as a foundational component of an E&C assurance programme;

collaborate with other assurance providers to integrate available E&C assurance data;
-
collaborate with Shell IT to ensure that analytics tools are available and accessible as required (including to third party service providers as used);
-
participate in assurance activities as required as an SME and analysis provider;
-
create and maintain an inventory of data-driven assurance provision related to E&C relevant processes and controls;

report out on the outcomes of E&C analytics – both to businesses and functions and to assurance providers at group level – providing input into a holistic overview of the effectiveness of the Shell E&C Programme, highlighting gaps and improvement areas; and

develop and maintain a robust auditable documentation of analytics methodology, processes, activity and outcomes.

Your technical skillsets and experience:

Required strong competency and experience in Power BI and Power Platform tools;

Extensive experience in (forensic) data analytics and supporting methodologies;
-
Required End-to-end experience with data, including querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization. Experience working with time-series data and experience with numerical, statistical and machine learning techniques would also be advantageous.

Ability to understand a business problem and devise appropriate analysis steps to assist in better understanding and solving that problem.

Mastery in drawing meaningful business conclusions from data and communicating those insights effectively to stakeholders – including for process effectiveness and compliance;

Proven experience working with business process and application owners to secure access to data to enable analytics;

Experience working with third parties on analytics projects or service delivery;

Experience establishing, leading and developing small teams;
-
Excellent oral and written communication skills – including to senior business leaders;

Knowledge of control Frameworks including topics on risk management and compliance programmes;

Experience in dealing with external regulatory/compliance requirements would be advantageous across all industries.
