The Citi Private Banking (CPB) Data, Reporting & Analytics group is beginning a multi-year effort to reengineer the data flows from front-to-back to support the business strategy focusing on our global clients and enabling rapid innovation.


The candidate will be a member of the Warsaw team responsible for the platform's Data Services, a component managed by the global owner located in Zurich, Switzerland.


Job background:

The position is based in Warsaw, Poland, reporting to the Warsaw Data Services team lead


Candidate must collaborate with other teams in multiple locations and will be expected to work with vendors/third parties in joint delivery teams


As there will be consumers of the platform services across CPB, the candidate will interact with stakeholders from across multiple functional areas


The position requires analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex material, technical or business or otherwise, from multiple sources.


Scope of duties:

  • As a Warsaw Data Services team member, the candidate will develop web, messaging and object cache data services using Scala and/or Java, implemented according to Reactive design patterns and a microservices architecture
  • The services will be deployed globally and integrate with a large number of endpoints and so request routing, cross-border data handling and data confidentiality will be mandatory components in the overall solution. These services will support critical business processes so must be reliable, resilient and performant
  • The common service framework will ultimately act as the service development platform for CPB and so will have broad impact across all lines of business



  • Min. 5-years’ experience in software development
  • Bachelor’s degree (in science, computers, information technology or engineering)
  • Experience developing JVM-based (Java or Scala) applications using e.g.:
  • Java frameworks – Akka or Spring Boot
  • Middleware & distributed messaging – Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • In-memory data grids and caches – Gemfire or Hazlecast
  • Web service implementation – service definition (Swagger or OpenAPI)
  • Experience with developing software that processes, persists and distributes data via relational and non-relational technologies e.g.:
  • Distributed data processing (one or more: Apache Spark, Storm, Samza, Flink)
  • NoSQL databases (one or more: HDFS, Hbase, Neo4J, Cassandra, MongoDB)
  • Data exchange formats (JSON or XML)
  • RDBMS (Oracle) development
