Front Office Developer – Pricing & Electronic Liquidity

The role is within the development team for the application supporting Citi’s market-leading, global Short-Term Interest Rates Trading (STIRT) business. The position holder will help develop electronic spread calculation for FX trading within STIRT, working closely with business users and quant teams.
Working as part of the FX STIRT technology team entails developing a high availability and high throughput application used by both Citi’s internal trading desks as well as external clients. It requires quickly responding to new requirements while maintaining high standards and quality of produced software.
The position holder will be working with the Spring Framework and multiple message broker technologies like ActiveMQ and Kafka, as part of their day-to-day work with the main codebase. They will be responsible for managing the Dockerized components of the application on VMs and OpenShift. They will be also working with Oracle with the help of dedicated DBAs, and Couchbase, which form the application’s database backend.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing production code for the FX Stirt platform
  • Developing tooling necessary to maintain, test and deploy the application on a variety of platforms
  • Working with dedicated QA teams to ensure high quality and performance of the platform


Required Knowledge/Experience: 
  • A track record of delivering technical solutions in business critical production environments. 
  • Collaboration with other developers in a team environment, working in a geographically distributed team
  • Experience with streaming and batch data analysis systems and messaging, such as those used to price liquid financial products
  • Devops mindset. Used to continuous delivery process, methods used to deploy to running systems
  • Excellent object-oriented development skills, including proficient Java
  • Ability to write clear code, as simple as possible.
  • Sound understanding of computing science fundamentals
  • Engineering / financial mathematics skills covering degree level engineering maths (calculus, numerical solutions, linear algebra)
  • Breadth of experience of technologies including scripting and functional languages
  • Excellent academic background educated to a minimum of degree level in a scientific or mathematical subject
Nice to have: 
  • Knowledge of financial mathematics related to Interest Rate and FX products, yield curve construction, risk
  • Experience of working closely with traders & quants, if from a finance background
  • Experience with vendor and open source data processing and messaging systems 
  • Experience with data analysis using Python, q (KDB), R. Enthusiastic to learn and apply new technologies and techniques in this rapidly evolving space.  
  • Experience of electronic markets and protocols, FIX protocol, VWAP
