Legal Counsel - Ethics and Compliance Data Privacy

Job description:

The Group Data Privacy Legal Counsel will be part of the global Shell Ethics and Compliance community with sole focus on compliance with data privacy laws and Shell’s data privacy processes. Although the primary focus will be EU regulations, the position will require some knowledge of relevant global laws and regulations. The Group Data Privacy Legal Counsel will also work closely with other members of the Privacy team; with SECO; with members of the Legal function as well as business clients, as directed. The position will require strong communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work with others on a collaborative basis, flexibility, interpersonal skills, legal research skills, organizational skills, sound judgment and initiative.

 

Requirements:

A qualified lawyer is sought preferably with experience advising in compliance, with a focus on privacy and data protection regulations. The candidate will require a proven track record in advising clients in privacy, compliance and/or IT legal matters. At least 3 years’ prior experience as a Legal Counsel, preferably in a multi jurisdictional setting.
 

  • Fluent in English with an ability to draft legal documents, agreements and policies in English.
  • A good understanding of privacy and data protection legal and regulatory obligations within the EU and beyond.
  • Experience and a keen interest in compliance and/or privacy and data protection matters, including for example, data security; audits; compliance; policies.
  • Ability to drafting policies; procedures, and data protection agreements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including training experience.
  • Ability to liaise with internal stakeholders; legal colleagues, and business clients, as may be directed.
