Job Summary
The IT Asset Manager will lead the Global IT Asset Management as part of MoneyGram International’s IT Services will coordinates with leadership and across IT teams to enable key corporate priorities by controlling costs, enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mitigating security & financial risks. The IT Asset Manager will create, maintain, enforce a global asset tracking service for all IT hardware and software assets, IT maintenance, IT Telecom services, and global conferencing.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the IT Asset Management function with respect to cost, control, compliance, and business objectives.
- Establish a best-in-class Asset Management practice that has deep knowledge of software/hardware vendor contracts, license terms & conditions, drives cost, and usage optimization programs. Establishes sound governance practices and promotes. Contributes to the continuous improvement and best practices of an Asset Management program.
- Provide regular training and feedback to core user-base of the global end user support staff.
- Development and execution of core team services including asset inventory data, gathering, interpretation, analysis, and reporting in conjunction with a solid CMDB competency.
- Interpret software license agreements, identify rules, obligations, and product metrics to ensure compliance with all software licenses agreements and software usage. Translate technical data elements to capture license compliance.
- Verify software deployment data by combination of discussions with the line of business owners and leveraging of software discovery tools, identifying under-deployments for potential cost savings and over-deployments that require the acquisition of additional rights.
- Assist business line staff in monitoring, ensuring software contract compliance, and performance between departments and vendors.
- Work with team leadership, business groups, and accounting staff to analyze and resolve complex issues associated with software licensing rights.
- Monitor software maintenance renewal requirements, coordinating with software owners on operational requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related major.
Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in a software audit or ITAM leadership role.
- ITIL, CSAM, CISA, and/or CISSP certifications (preferred).
- Knowledge of complex vendor software contracts, licensing terminology, and software licensing rights, especially for major software vendors (IBM, Oracle, CA, Microsoft).
- Must be able to interpret, analyze, & summarize contracts, and evaluate pricing & licensing proposals.
- Experience in conducting software vendor audits and negotiations.
- Knowledge of the information system environment, including both hardware and software. Understanding of key physical & virtual open systems and mainframe hardware data attributes (processors, cores, LPARs, etc.).
Essential Skills
- This position includes tactical / direct “hands on” support.
- General knowledge of IT systems including mainframe, server, network, and web applications, preferred.
- Strong demonstrated planning, problem solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to anticipate problems and contribute innovative solutions to IT management.
- Ability to analyze software discovery data and configure/create discovery tools/scripts.
- Proven results in software cost avoidance/savings.
- Advanced Excel skills.

- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Project Management experience preferred.
