Job description:

General Position Definition:
Shell Bitumen is a fully integrated business. Our activities under control cover all key aspects of a downstream operation, including Make (own refineries), Buy, Blend (own/third party depots), Move, Market (across Europe and Africa).

Job purpose:

Price Risk Management:
We actively undertake price risk management and strive to fully integrate exposure management across all of our activities. You are tasked to Monitor exposure on the portfolio of physical contracts and commitments, and execute appropriate actions in order to optimise exposure arising
Value Generation:
Support driving optimal Pricing in the Markets and create additional value by identifying and acting on margin improvement opportunities.


Faultless Pricing Operations:
Deliver perfect pricing and exposure operations that leave no dollar on the table and lead to high levels of customer and front line staff satisfaction.



Principal accountabilities:

  1. Prompt and accurate execution of exposure management actions in support of the Exposure Manager.

  2. Value Generation (Price, Cost and Margin Optimisation)

  3. Gather/Administer/Monitor price, cost and profitability information (via our pricing tool) and check adherence to the pricing targets.


Principal Responsibilities:
Operational Elements
In Support of the Pricing/Exposure Manager

  • Monitoring exposures

  • Execute exposure management interventions in support of the Exposure Manager

  • Ensure routine price, cost and risk marketing administration is flawless.

Addressing root causes of persistent issues while taking into account front line efficiency

  • Operate and continuously enhance current business analytics and information resources.

  • Establish a program of performance improvement initiatives


Commercial Elements:
In Support of the Pricing/Exposure Manager:

  • Identify and act on value opportunities through price setting and margin optimisation

  • Unlock value opportunities considered “too difficult” to operate.

  • Operationalise customer and supplier pricing propositions with the goal of perfect consumer satisfaction.

  • Develop simple yet innovative analytical insights to exploit Shell price, margin and volume data. Materialise these insights through accessible tools that guide negotiators towards better commercial outcomes.

  • Above and beyond the preceding responsibilities, use your understanding of Bitumen prices to contribute to growing the value of the business year on year.

Dimensions:

  • Bitumen Europe/Africa is operating in > 15 Countries

  • Core businesses currently is located in Western and Central Europe and South Africa

  • Regular exports into a variety of other countries

Requirements:

Essential;

  • Strong Commercial mind set (preferably experience in Pricing/Sales activities)

  • Superb analytical skills, strong problem solving mind-set

  • Technically capable to innovate in the use of end user computing tools such as Excel, Access, and Sharepoint.

  • Highly numerate and able to present complex data in simple intuitive ways

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills


Desirable:

  • Knowledgeable in the area of Risk Marketing and / or Trading

  • Knowledgeable in the application of financial instruments for risk management such as OTC derivatives (swaps and options) and Futures

  • Knowledgeable in the use of SAP with respect to pricing & billing

  • Business Finance experience, knowledge of P&L, Balance sheet & CCS dynamics

  • Knowledge of Dutch, French or German is a plus, fluent English is a must.
