Senior Team Manager - Facilities & Equipment data

Job description:

The role of the Senior Team Manager (STM)- Facilities & Equipment Data is to manage several Data teams in Upstream Facilities & Equipment (F&E) Team. The Data teams support customers from Upstream & Integrated Gas Businesses with data for the processes- Manage Equipment Care, Maintenance Execution, work preparation, planning & scheduling incl. Turn around maintenances. The portfolio of services is a mix of data improvement/cleanse projects, work packs, work preparation, scheduling and ongoing services. The teams are located across Chennai, Manila, Cyberjaya and Krakow.

Key accountabilities:

  • People Management: Ensure the teams for Maintenance Planning & Execution data are high performing, passionate and social cohesive. Ensure that staff have the right competencies to execute the work. Inspire and develop the team managers and staff. Coach and mentor process data engineers on topics like Equipment, processes and tools. Processes include Asset Data Improvement Projects, Preventive maintenance Optimization, Scheduling, Work packs/Work Preparation etc., as well as may be leading small teams to provide data support for project /maintenance planning and scheduling including Turnarounds/shutdowns.

  • Operational delivery: Ensure that the teams deliver on time, good quality deliverables and strive continuously for improvements. Coordinate, monitor and improve the quality and timeliness of the delivery of services. Ensure that work instructions, training materials, resource planning, training plan and backup plan are kept evergreen. Ensure that the teams have a good understanding of the expectations of stakeholders and issues are handled with a clear customer focus.

  • Provide steer and direction: Provides clarity and direction to his team on how the services will develop and the capabilities required in the coming year. Ensures the team have a clear customer focus.

  • Provide consultancy: The Senior Team Manager is expected to be able to advise to OU’s on the set-up of the maintenance asset hierarchy, bills of material, plans, frequencies, schedules etc., and may advise them on Work Preparation for both Preventive, Corrective and Turnaround Maintenances. Provide Technical support to frontline maintenance and operations teams in support of Shell’s maintenance philosophy.

Dimensions:

  • Managing the costs for a team of up to 50 engineers (multiple disciplines, Bachelor’s degree and up).

  • Managing the relationships with multiple assets across Upstream and Integrated Gas.

  • Managing multiple projects and ongoing services at the same time.

  • Work with the Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP/Maximo & CMMS systems across Upstream and Integrated Gas;

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • University Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering.

  • Work experience of min. 12 years or more in the maintenance planning & scheduling, work preparation, execution, etc., in Oil & Gas/ Petrochemicals/ Heavy Industries/Power Plants/Steel Plants/ Fertilizer Plants or any equivalent manufacturing industry past degree.

  • The STM needs to have the technical in-depth knowledge of the plants, rotating & static equipment to be able to review the work prepared by the project/maintenance teams and individual staff.

  • Experience in Planning and scheduling Major and Minor Plant Turnarounds/Shutdowns, day to day preventive maintenance. Resource allocation and leveling with hands on experience working in planning & scheduling tools viz. MS Projects/ PrimaveraP6 will be an added advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of SAP PM, reasonable amount of knowledge of the other SAP modules and experience with the back end of Maximo is desirable.

  • Experience with leading a large team (15 or more) and developing staff in a virtual environment.

  • The role involves dealing with a very wide range of stakeholders at different seniority levels so the ability to influence others in a polite but firm way without a mandate is a prerequisite. The STM needs to be able to deal with difficult stakeholder conversations in a virtual environment.

  • The STM needs to be able to prioritize the overall work load of the team and balance pro-actively demand and capacity of the team.

  • The STM needs to be able drive Continuous Improvement in the teams.

  • The ability to quickly establish credibility with very senior stakeholders will be critical to success - demonstrated ability to pick up new knowledge quickly is sought.

  • Strong experience in project management.
