Operational Risk Sr Analyst
Work place: Warszawa

The Operational Risk Sr Analyst is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinates and contributes to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits. Has significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.

This role will be hired for a fixed term (till July 2021) to cover long term absence of current staff.


Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the application of operational risk policies, technology and tools, and governance processes to create lasting solutions for minimizing losses from failed internal processes, inadequate controls, and emerging risks.
  • Contributes to risk assessments and drives actions to address the root causes that persistently lead to operational risk losses by challenging both historical and proposed practices.
  • Provides governance and oversight may include (not limited to) technology operational risk, regulatory risk, sanctions risk, information security risk, etc.
  • Executes a comprehensive ops control plan under oversight of Ops Control Manager, which includes on site reviews & monitoring of key indicators, high risk accounts & processes as per the defined frequency.
  • Reports the results of reviews by documenting the context, findings and formalizing corrective actions by engaging with the management.
  • Monitors progress on all TTS Client Ops related audits and regulatory reviews in country, providing support to TTS Client Operations in the preparation and management associated with internal and external audits.
  • Ensures the Operations Team is in compliance with all regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members in relation to Risk and Control matters.
  • Appropriately assesses the risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
  • Contributes to the management and coordination of risk and control related initiatives to ensure the effectiveness of control environment.
  • Ensures relevant people are aware and well trained on risks and controls, based on corporate standards as they are released/ modified.
  • Contributes to the preparation of weekly R&C updates, monthly Ops Controls MIS decks, data analysis reports, capturing any issues, themes, exceptions.
  • Proactive review of all exceptions (BSER, Nostro etc.) ensuring minimum flows into >30 days bucket.
  • Works closely with the ICG O&T Controls & TTS Client Ops control team on cluster/regional/global initiatives/projects.
  • Performs monitoring, reporting and escalation of the status of all the corrective action plans (CAPs) relating to TTS Client Ops.
  • Follow-up audit alerts attestations and perform respective validations.
  • Ensure adherence to Ops Loss policy in terms of booking, root cause analysis and reporting of loss events, ensure adherence to reporting requirements for potential loss events.
  • Performs projects, special assignments, and other ad hoc activities as required.
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Builds and manages effective working relationship with different Client Operations teams.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • 5-8 years relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of risk & control essentials
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Customer focused with excellent Interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment collaborating across diverse groups •
  • Demonstrated understanding of operational risk and gap identification • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously • Ability to present a compelling case to influence others where appropriate
  • Regulatory policies and procedures knowledge
  • Good command of MS Office applications and knowledge of reporting
  • Knowledge of TTS products/client operations would be an advantage

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
