We are currently looking for a Linux System Administrator who installs, configures, and maintains Linux operating systems and related applications in a variety of situations. This role involves server-side operations and troubleshooting tasks that support business-critical and development activities. The Linux System Administrator will configure user access and monitor system stability and security through deployment and everyday use.

This role requires familiarity with Linux systems and servers and may involve risk and reliability assessments, system troubleshooting, routine maintenance and user support.

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot system problems/issues, determine root cause, and coordinate or implement resolution with other infrastructure teams
• Respond to Linux system monitoring alerts
• Create and edit change records
• Perform Linux OS upgrades and patching
• Perform Linux OS configuration edits/changes
• Document common issues/problems and steps to resolve
• Communicate effectively with all levels of employees, vendors, and customers

Experience/Requirements:

• Linux administrator experience at an internship or on the job
• Basic understanding of Linux tools, principles, and practices related to user management, backups, networking, storage, security, and performance
• Redhat Enterprise Linux experience preferred
• Good understanding of overall IT infrastructure and best practices
• Knowledge of system virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM)
• Basic understanding, reading and modifying of scripts (BASH, Python, Ruby)
• Experience with enterprise change processes, controls, and documentation
• Experience with IT ticketing systems such as Service Now
• Basic experience with reviewing error logs
• Ability to follow documented instructions with high attention to detail
• Experience with configuration management tools. Chef preferred
• Basic understanding of container technologies (Docker)
