Shell UK Upstream business spans over several offshore production sites in various state of asset maturity, supported with three onshore business units located in northern part of the UK. Contracting model for Shell UK Upstream is based on cooperation between three main lines of business: Wells & Projects (greenfield & brownfield), Production and Materials Management, whereas successful candidate’s predominant business habitat shall be within Production business line.
You will develop sourcing strategies and tactics based on a deep understanding of the current macroeconomic situation, the business strategy and drivers, the local supplier market and global strategies. The commercial lead enables stakeholders in the Supply Chain to understand the intent of contracts, optimize the use of contracts, manage Contract(or)s for performance and remove waste of value from SC processes.
A Commercial Lead is expected to manage medium-complex UK Contract portfolio of Tactical and Operational contracts (up to 40% Tactical spend) and to handle new demands assigned to category/categories according to Category Management Contracting & Procurement (CMCP) guidelines.
You will:

Work closely with UK key stakeholders within various Shell Businesses and Functions to execute Category Management commercial work plans, assuring supply of contracts at market competitive terms and conditions through tendering or direct negotiations.

Develop and implement pragmatic procurement strategies and tactics based on regularly updated cost models, business requirement and supplier industry analyses.

Drive total cost reductions and value beyond ‘the usual’ (cash preservation/cost savings/process efficiency/rationalization of the number of Contracts/Suppliers). Identify opportunities in the contract portfolio to create more value and/or to eliminate waste.

Deliver Operational Excellence in the development of contracting strategy to post award contract management. This includes management of cycle times in accordance with business needs and ensuring SC operations organization and SC Operations managed processes are easy to work with. Drive and leverage digitization of SC operations. Improve usage of digital tools and insights to deliver business value and efficiency. Be forefront in driving digitalisaiton and right first-time data ownership.
Requirements:
- About 4 years of professional CP experience - Contract Strategy building and Post-Award process
- Practical, documented knowledge of Category Management process
- Great Deal Making skills – proven by strong Contract Implementation delivery Commercial savvy, business acumen, ability to work on numerous fronts across several initiatives
- Strong Business Partnering skills
- Professional CP qualification preferred, CIPS Certification (or similar) is an added advantage
- Fluent in English (written & oral)
