The Supply Chain (SC) Data Excellence Team within Shell Contracting and Procurement (CP) Operations focus on solving structural and complex data issues across the end-to-end SC landscape. These problems are addressed via improvements in functional processes, digitalization, people capability and data lifecycle management. The team operates in the non-hydrocarbon Supply Chain which delivers materials, services, and people to:
- Operational or live Assets i.e. Oil & Gas extraction sites
- Capital Projects i.e. Assets which are under construction
The SC Data Excellence Team collaborate with Global Process Excellence partners to define, maintain, and execute the SC data strategy which will enable Shell to operate and improve global supply chains that are safe, competitive, sustainable, and digitally connected. Executing improvements is at the heart of what the team does in the context of Shell’s various lines of business and CP/SC processes so that they are efficient, fit for purpose and sustained in daily operations.
Position Description - Purpose:
This position has been created to drive leadership in the cross-functional teams that work in liberating value from Data excellence and digitalization across the e2e SC scope. The incumbent must ensure that improvements in the Data operating model unlocks value opportunities which otherwise would cause suboptimal business performance.
The role is needed to unite efforts between SC functional processes, systems, and data management; so that value and efficiency can be delivered to the teams who operate our supply chain on the ground/frontline. The incumbent will pursue e2e Data capability so that Data is trusted, connected, and drives value.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Drive coherent diagnosis and problem definition on value leakage in CP/SC caused by structural issues in the CP/SC Data landscape, or from feeder processes’ data into CP/SC.
- Identify, influence and drive solutioning (IT systems, process, data design, people, project management) that addresses key structural Data issues, and ensures the right outcomes and measurements (i.e. Service, Cost, Working Capital, Data Quality) are implemented and sustained within the Operations.
- Provide Data leadership, competency development, and role modelling to improve CP’s understanding and adoption of Shell’s Data Roles & Responsibilities.
- Ensure significant time liberation, work simplification, and demonstrable contribution to overall supply chains by creating organisational capacity through automation; therefore CP enabling Data and CP frontlines to take on more complex value driven work.
- Cooperate with a complex network of business partners and stakeholders to develop a SC data strategy and roadmap which ultimately ensures that data is trusted, connected and drives value.
Dimensions:
- CP Data and natural e2e partners can be global. This requires time flexibility in a virtual working environment.
- Data processes in CP/SC cover all businesses in Shell i.e., Upstream, Integrated Gas and New Energies, Downstream/Functions, and Projects & Engineering; and across different supply chains (Live assets, Capital Projects)
Special Challenges (Complexity):
- Individual contributor with no direct reports, budget.
- Data challenges for Supply Chain in live assets and Capital Projects can be significantly complex (eg inconsistent definition and application of data models, different ERPs from years ago).
- Strong broad integrator required across diverse stakeholders given there is a need to pull different capabilities that exist in multiple teams to work together.
- Supply Chain Capability is still an area for improvement across the Oil & Gas Industry
Key Experiences and Qualifications:
- 10-15 years of experience in Supply Chain Management and/or IT/Digitalization of Supply Chains
