Software Engineer in Evidence Lab team

•Develop highly scalable data processing platforms and tools,
•develop data query and analysis services to be leveraged by clients, internally and externally,
•maintain scalable code base via conducting code review, building reusable code frameworks and documenting standards,
•evaluate third party data processing platforms for use within Evidence Lab,
•adapt the latest data processing and infrastructure techniques to our growing stack.
UBS Evidence Lab is looking for software engineers to join one of several exciting engineering teams. The teams’ focus is building a scalable web platforms, data processing platforms, and tools used to harvest and analyze large datasets in the context of financial analysis and alternative data. They leverage well-established engineering processes and techniques pioneered by giants in the tech industry. Projects span general pipelining to building internal web tools to helping develop low-latency query and analysis engines.
No background in finance is required, so this is a great opportunity to get exposure to the finance industry and big data.
•Established track record in designing, building, deploying,
and maintaining scalable systems,
•knowledge of modern programming techniques, including
algorithms and data structures,
•knowledge developing and debugging Python, or a
similar programming language.
Nice to have:
•Formal education in Computer Science or related field,
•experience working with open source big data technologies (e.g. Apache Spark, etc.),
•experience with Django and React web technologies,
•experience developing on Microsoft Azure,
•familiar with Agile methodologies.
