Who we are looking for

As a member of State Street Global Advisors’ ESG and Sustainable Investing Team, the individual in this role will be involved in all activities associated with State Street Global Advisors’ asset stewardship activities in the EMEA region.

This role requires significant cross-organizational teamwork skills to: i) implement State Street Global Advisors’ proxy voting and engagement guidelines, ii) engage with portfolio companies on an array of ESG topics, and iii) enhance State Street Global Advisors’ stewardship program through thought leadership.

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

What you will be responsible for

As Asset Stewardship Analyst you will

  • Analyze EMEA companies on their ESG practices and performance
  • Engage with EMEA companies on ESG matters
  • Vote resolutions at company shareholder meetings across EMEA holdings
  • Publish thought leadership articles on relevant ESG matters
  • Develop and enhance State Street Global Advisors’ proxy voting policies, stewardship program and client presentations
  • Build and manage relations with key external and internal clients and consultants in the EMEA region
  • Represent State Street Global Advisors at conferences and at industry association meetings/committees as a participant or speaker
  • Oversee risks associated with State Street Global Advisors’ stewardship activities in the EMEA region
  • Conduct research on key ESG topics/trends
  • Monitor and provide responses to developing ESG-related regulation/legislation within the region
  • Ensure that relevant matters are escalated to the head of asset stewardship in a timely manner

  • Willingness to collaborate with members of the team to achieve group performance targets
  • Understanding of the interplay between business, strategy and ES/corporate governance factors; familiarity with the investment management business is preferable

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in ESG research and/or sustainable investing and/or proxy voting and company engagement
  • Demonstratable passion for sustainable development
  • A master’s or equivalent in or around the themes of sustainable development, finance, economics or relevant field
  • Proven ability to independently research and analyze an issue through multiple angles, identify variable alternatives, develop and communicate vote rationale and recommend solutions
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills to articulate complex concepts and issues in a compelling, persuasive, fact-based manner
  • Willingness to collaborate with members of the team to achieve group performance targets
  • Understanding of the interplay between business, strategy and ESG factors; familiarity with the investment management business is preferable
