Your role

We’re looking for software engineers to:
• provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new software, software projects and initiatives to build new applications and to support and enhance our existing applications
• design, plan and deliver sustainable solutions using modern programming languages
• analyse technical requirements for WMPC CTO
• conduct code reviews and test software as needed, along with participating in application architecture and design and other phases of SDLC
• see that proper operational controls and procedures are implemented to process move from test to production
Your team
You’ll be working in the MOAP (“Mother Of All Projects”) team, as part of the CTO of WMPC CDIO (Technology division) in Poland. MOAP provides technical resources for software development teams at UBS to develop high-quality applications which comply with UBS principles, standards and reference architectures, use approved standard technologies, and run on UBS standard platforms. The idea of MOAP is to provide fully functional reference projects which meet the above mentioned criteria - as starting points for new developments and as reference for existing applications.

• communicate proven and approved architectures and technologies to software developers.
• improve software development team productivity.
• improve software quality, focus on quality assurance (using automated unit and integration tests as well as code analysis).
• collect, share and evolve standards and best practices as part of a developer community.
This benefits our fellow software engineers, the projects they work in, and the company as a whole. As a MOAP IT Software Engineer, you’ll play an important role in achieving our goals.
The MOAP team is small, but highly skilled and valued. Trust and support are omnipresent. Our work is interesting, fun and challenging. Your main work will be the development and enhancement of the application templates. You will be asked to come up with improvement ideas, with introducing new software, technologies and concepts in alignment with CTO. We also regularly present our releases, new ideas, important concepts to the UBS Developer Community.
Your expertise
• design and problem solving skills as well the ability to analyse code to identify issues and performance bottlenecks
• large-scale enterprise design experience and developing scalable applications
• experience with automated testing at all levels
• experience in working with all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from working with stakeholders to refining requirements to deploying and software in production
• curious and collaborative, comfortable working independently, as well as in a team
• experience in working with Agile methodologies, especially Scrum
• able to improve older code bases, as well as able to apply modern best practices to new projects
• keeping up to date with emerging technologies and latest development innovation
• several years of professional experience, a degree in Computer Science is preferred
• well experienced in Java 11+ and the Spring Framework
• good understanding of HTML5, JSON, XML, web standards (for example REST)
• experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, databases, build systems (Maven, npm/yarn)
• beneficial: experiences with Python, Ansible, Apache Tomcat and Apache Web Server, cloud technologies (preferably Azure), containers (Docker/Rancher), Linux
• fluent in English
