Your role

Are you risk averse but risk aware? Looking for a new challenge, where you can play a key role to prevent potential risk to the bank? We are looking for someone in Monitoring and Surveillance to support our Unauthorised Trading Surveillance team monitoring risk for the Investment Bank.

You will join a team of compliance analysts with a primary goal of searching for potential rogue trading activity, and a secondary goal of investigating, documenting, and raising any operational risk that could be used to conduct future rogue trading activity that you have encountered in this search.

On a weekly basis, you will review a number of alerts triggered in our data analytics engine as presenting sufficient risk as to warrant investigation. This will involve examining trading activity in the trading systems, the engine itself, and contacting middle office teams in a quasi-audit capacity to understand the nature of the factors triggering on the trading activity.

The experience gained in these investigations, combined with the skillsets you bring to the team, will enable you to conduct self-directed and own-initiative work. Examples include calibrating the data analytics engine by presenting an argument of what needs to be changed, developing the data to support your argument, and suggesting a solution or performing in-depth thematic reviews of potential rogue trading activity driven by data or intuition. Experience with data analytics and statistics is a strong mark in your favour.

Responsibilities include:

- Risk assessment of discrete trade events and patterns of behaviour that carry a potential risk of unauthorised trading highlighted through the data analytics platform combining various Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
- Interrogating triggered trades within Front Office Risk Management systems in order to obtain further details in relation to trade bookings.
- Liaising with Middle Office teams in order to gain further explanations surrounding alerted trade bookings. Collaborating with various stakeholders on improving the existing risk control framework.
- Maintain meticulous records of all information gathered in relation to each alerts, a full detailed log updated in the alert management tool to ensure a full audit trail is readily available.
- Providing recommendations for an appropriate risk level and analysis trending over multiple periods
- Perform Root Cause/ Thematic behaviour analysis of risk behaviours and document any resulting risk events.
Develop new risk scenarios and calibrate risk indicators with the help of data to ensure that we are always following the risk.
Work to own initiative to further develop and enhance the program
