Who we are looking for

State Street Bank International GmbH’s (SSBI) second-line Compliance function is seeking a Compliance Risk Monitoring Lead Analyst to join our dynamic compliance methodology team. In this lead role, you will own the design and execution of the SSBI compliance monitoring & testing (M&T) methodology and multi-year M&T plan. Working as part of a team, you will monitor the status and quality of the execution and ensure adequate resourcing to achieve plan targets. You will produce monthly reporting to keep management apprised of status, as well as communicate any material findings uncovered by the M&T.

This role is perfect for someone who wants the opportunity to help build and run an M&T methodology and multi-year plan at a significant global financial institution. It is a good fit for someone who is highly organized, efficient and focused on producing top-quality, accurate work. This person is analytically minded and as well as technically capable. This person must be driven and innovative by nature, always seeking to improve and streamline existing processes and to come up with better solutions.

The ideal candidate for this role has previous experience in a risk function within a highly regulated financial services, banking or similar industry. This person will have extensive experience with M&T or similar activities (e.g., audits) and will have produced risk management reporting.


Why this role is important to us

This is a high impact role within the SSBI Compliance function that positions you to add significant value to the firm through ownership of the compliance M&T methodology and multi-year plan. The compliance M&T methodology helps ensure SSBI has a structured and methodical approach to monitoring its compliance risks. Execution of the multi-year plan helps ensure that all of SSBI’s compliance risks are reviewed and that potential gaps are discovered and escalated to management so they can respond appropriately.

What you will be responsible for

M&T Methodology

  • Define and own SSBI Monitoring & Testing methodology and related documentation
  • Ensure alignment & coordination with group compliance risk monitoring & testing function
  • Ensure annual review & refresh of procedures

M&T multi-year plan

  • Define and own SSBI Monitoring & Testing multi-year plan
  • Create work aids and trainings to support execution
  • Track execution of plan, escalating as required to head of SSBI methodology
  • Monitoring resource levels to ensure adequacy
  • Coordinate with SSBI and group risk functions to achieve synergies and avoid duplication of work (e.g., audit, corporate M&T)
  • Attend service review meetings and review SLAs for group provided M&T services to ensure adequate oversight of service delivery
  • Perform quality checks of SSBI M&T to ensure quality and alignment with methodology requirements

M&T Reporting

  • Design SSBI M&T management reporting
  • Create and monitor SSBI M&T status dashboards on an ongoing basis to ensure accuracy & completeness
  • Prepare M&T statistics and qualitative updates on a monthly basis for various management reports and committees (e.g., Head of Compliance report, SSBI compliance risk committee)

Other

  • Participate in compliance remediations, as required
  • Present M&T methodology and results of execution, as required
  • Gather evidence for regulatory and audit requests

  • Ability to summarize the results of monitoring or testing activities
  • Ability to review the results of monitoring or testing activities for quality
  • Ability to draft succinct summaries of compliance findings and gaps
  • Ability to communicate with and appropriately influence all levels of management, in writing and verbally, including ability to succinctly and clearly formulate risk summaries or opinions
  • Ability to analyze data and recognize trends, anomalies
  • Ability to use analysis/visualization/automation tools a plus (e.g., Microsoft Power Platform tools, Tableau, VBA)
  • Ability to read, understand and negotiate service level agreements is a plus
  • Ability to exercise discretion on matters of confidentiality or significance

About you:

  • Strong interpersonal communication and meeting presentation/facilitation skills
  • Well organized with robust executive functioning, including ability to prioritize appropriately and to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Takes a structured and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Analytically minded, capable of (quickly) summarizing information
  • Skilled user of Microsoft Office tools (Visio, Excel, etc.)

Your experience:

  • Extensive experience navigating the complexities of a global enterprise, including reconciling corporate objectives with local requirements
  • Extensive experience working in highly regulated industries
  • Experience using risk monitoring or testing methodologies
  • Experience designing methodologies is a big plus
  • Extensive experience using or designing multi-year monitoring or testing plans
  • Experience using or designing monitoring or testing activities
  • Experience writing policies or procedures in a risk management context
  • Experience performing resource analyses
  • Experience analyzing and producing risk reporting
  • Experience managing high-stakes projects with various stakeholders, phases and deadlines
  • Experience remediating audit, regulatory inspections or compliance issues
  • Experience developing and delivering trainings
  • Experience with banking products and services a plus
  • Experience with relevant European laws and regulations
  • Experience with German regulations a plus
  • Experience on business/operational side a plus (finance, operations, trading etc.)

Education & Qualifications:

  • Completed university degree
  • Around five years of work experience in the financial industry
  • Relevant experience in a risk or control function
  • Fluency in English, German skills a plus
  • Relevant professional certifications a plus (e.g., CIA, CPA, ACCA, CISA, CFE, statutory auditor, etc.)
  • LEAN, Agile, Six Sigma certifications a plus
