As we enter the final quarter of 2024, insights from the latest “Barometr ManpowerGroup Perspektyw Zatrudnienia” (eng. employment outlook survey) offer a detailed glimpse into the hiring dynamics across Poland.

Based on interviews with over 40,000 employers globally and a focused sample of 525 employers in Poland, this analysis provides valuable information on hiring intentions across different industries and regions in the country.

Therefore, let’s delve in to find the answer to the question: which sectors expect the highest demand for new talent?


To hire or to fire – that is the question

According to the survey, hiring in Poland remains robust, with 35% of employers planning to expand their workforce in Q4, while 19% anticipate workforce reductions. A significant 42% intend to maintain their current staffing levels. On the one hand, the outlook reflects the stability of the Polish labor market. On the other – it can be a cause for cautious optimism as the year draws to a close, and employers prepare for a new year that is expected to bring shifts in both the labor market and the broader economic environment.


Between two poles: The regional hiring trends in Poland

Regional analysis reveals notable differences in hiring intentions across Poland. The northwestern region stands out with the most optimistic hiring forecast, showing a net employment outlook of +23%. This figure underscores the potential for economic growth in this part of the country, where increased investment and development initiatives likely drive demand for new employees.

In contrast, companies in the southern region exhibit a more conservative hiring outlook with a net employment projection of +7%. Though more reserved, these numbers still reflect a positive hiring trend.

Other regions in Poland fall between these two poles, showing moderate hiring intentions that reflect the country's overall stable economic climate.


Which sectors plan to recruit? Demand in Transportation, IT, and Consumer Goods

The survey identifies six key industries that expect to increase their workforce in Q4. What are those, you might wonder? Leading the way are the transportation, logistics, and automotive sectors, which report a net employment outlook of +28%. This rising trend is likely fueled by sustained growth in e-commerce and the demands that go with it.

The IT sector follows closely with a projected +27% net hiring outlook, showcasing the sector's critical role in Poland's economy. Driven by continued cybersecurity needs, and, of course, technological innovation and the (omnipresent lately) AI, IT professionals with up-to-date skills are in high demand.

Lastly, the consumer goods and services industry, with a +25% hiring outlook, rounds out the top three. This sector’s growth may be attributed to resilient consumer spending patterns, which support both physical and online retail, alongside hospitality services that continue to rebound post-pandemic.
