Are you looking to put down roots in Poland? Or need somewhere to stay during the academic year? Let’s find out more about the rental and housing market in Poland. Read on!

How much of your income will go towards your rent in Poland? The answer to this question depends on many variables such as the size of your room or apartment, its condition, location or nearby amenities. Generally speaking, Warsaw is the most expensive of all Polish cities and, according to Deloitte’s 2021 Property Index, the one with the highest average rent in Central Europe (EUR 15.1 per m2/month). As shown in the report, rental accommodation in the Polish capital is even higher than in some Western European cities, e.g. Dublin (EUR 13.18 per m2/month), Rome (EUR 13.09 per m2/month), Manchester (EUR 11.12 per m2/month) or Berlin (EUR 10.10 m2/month). Seeing that the average salary in Poland amounts to around PLN 5,500 (around EUR 1,200) gross per month, it is hardly surprising that a lot of young people wait until they are in their late 20s to move out of their parents’ house. Still, a lot of foreign residents find Poland far more affordable than most Western European countries, especially when working remotely for an overseas employer.

Below you will find an overview of average rental prices in Warsaw in the second half of 2021. If you are considering buying a property in Poland, take a look at the second table, which will provide you with average prices per square metre in major Polish cities.
