

Job Purpose:
Manager within the CMO/CPM and M&A Product Control team, responsible for oversight of EMEA CMO CPM and M&A P&L and Balance Sheet reporting. Involves managing the teams responsible for P&L and B/S reporting, driving improvements to the control infrastructure, meeting external reporting requirements specific to the business, as well as providing add-value and forward thinking P&L and Balance Sheet review. The manager will work closely with all other areas within the Product Control department, liaising with the Trading desk, Business Management, Risk Management and other areas within Finance.

• Capital Markets Origination focuses on helping clients to raise finance (funds) in the international capital markets through investment grade loans, investment grade bonds, leveraged loans, high yield bonds, IPOs (Initial Public Offerings), equity, convertibles and structured products, such as securitisation. CMO comprises three primary businesses; Equity Capital Markets (ECM); Debt Capital Markets (DCM), and Issuer Services.
Corporate and investment Banking (CIB): client relationship management across the globe spanning all ICG products with strong focus on strategic and financial advisory services (including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and financial restructuring):
• Corporate Lending: Corporate lending and portfolio management, primarily supporting corporate & investment banking clients.
Product Control is primarily responsible for producing the daily revenue and balance sheet reporting for the desk, as well as numerous regular financial reports and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the 2 local teams of 5+ each (including 1st line managers – team leaders); Ensure proper on-boarding, training and retaining the team members
- Review / Escalation / Action: Implement procedures to ensure ongoing performance and supervisory review of tasks and controls by the covered teams. Escalate to Central Hub and Local Hub management as appropriate. Provide suggested solutions to identified problems/issues and see through implementation.
- Manage the on-going communication with the Senior Managers in London, other relevant stakeholders; Ensure consistent EMEA Controllers message is delivered
- Manage BCMA P&L and balance sheet control framework. Will include on-going communication with the Heads of the Trading Desk, Business, and explanation of P&L movements to management, profit attribution analysis, responsibility of position reconciliation’s, Balance Sheet analysis and control.
- Validation of Financials: Review the results and commentaries provided by the teams and work together with the business to understand the market and strategic reasons behind the financial results. Partner with the businesses to ensure that Product Control and senior Finance management are aware of business developments.
- Drive improvements to the control infrastructure (reducing number of adjustments through IMR/drive data quality issues) and adherence to the Manager Control Assessment policies and procedures
- Identify continuous opportunities for Finance synergies and drive the changes to increase efficiency and productivity
- Work with EMEA Product Control Management team to assist in relevant audits and examinations, as well as ensuring that the tracking of corrective actions for internal and external audits are diligently performed
- Ad-hoc projects that arise relating to further streamlining (or retirement) of existing systems or assisting in the implement in the introduction of new systems.
Knowledge/Experience:
- Good understanding of the Capital Markets product offering and associated accounting would be an advantage.
- Min 2 year’s experience in a supervisory/management role, within Product Control capacity, or in a relevant role that is product and accounting focussed e.g. Risk Management, Price Verification, Audit.
- Evidence of strong control focus.
- Ability to interpret financial information.
- Ability to negotiate and strong people skills.
- Ability to put knowledge of financial principles into P&L and Profit Attribution analysis.
- Able to perform effectively within a time pressurised environment.
Skills:
- Strong Control mind-set.
- Reengineering, project and process changes skills would be very desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage high performing teams
Qualifications:
- MA degree or equivalent desirable
- Min 2 year experience in people management (experience in 2nd line management will be an advantage)
- Fluency in English in writing and speaking
