Trade Mark Coordinator

Job description:

Shell Brands International AG is the legal owner of Shell Trade Marks in the World. Built over 120 years, our brand is the most valuable asset this organisation has (currently worth $42bn) and as such we need to protect it, further strengthen it and continually leverage it to drive growth of our products and services.
We are looking for an experienced professional to help with starting up a new Brand Protection unit in Shell Krakow, which they will help initially shape, and run operations.


Guided by Brand Protection objectives, internal policies and legal agreements you will independently assess and process requests for the use of Shell Trade Marks by third parties, Joint Ventures and Shell entities. This will require developing strong collaborative relationships with Businesses, Legal Teams, Brand Advisors and other parties involved in the Trade Mark approval process of global reach. Key measures of success will include Trade Mark protection KPIs, excellent customer service, efficient and effective decision making.

Accountabilities of the position:

  • Developing a deep understanding of different Trade Mark licenses used in Shell

  • Handling customer queries to use the Trade Marks, including fully documenting each Trade Mark request, liaising with the customer for further clarity when necessary

  • Assessing requests to use Shell Trade Marks within the scope of the Trade Mark licenses, policies, using a risk-based approach and common sense

  • Processing requests in a digital workflow tool

  • Allocating the assessed requests to final decision makers for formal approval

  • Preparing and distributing approval and rejection documents to customers, based on the formal approvals

  • Liaising with Legal Teams of Shell Brands International AG (Switzerland) and Shell Trade Marks Incorporated (USA), Brand Extension Licensing Managers and External Relations Managers of Shell (worldwide) as well as Brand Standards and Assurance Team (UK, Netherlands)

  • Delivering presentations and training on Trade Mark request approval process to Businesses and Functions in Shell

  • Records management

  • Develop an understanding of the Businesses and use of Trade Marks in the Shell environment

  • Driving process improvements

  • Effective communicator: must demonstrate ability to take complex subjects and easily distil concepts across broad audiences

  • Sense of Organisation & Effectiveness: must not be intimated nor enslaved by process, finding ways to simplify towards better, more efficient delivery


Requirements:

To be successful on the role you need to have:

  • English min. C1 with knowledge of legal vocabulary

  • Law degree ideally followed by LLM (Master of Law)

  • Interest in Trade Mark law (Trade Mark experience is a plus)

  • Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor

  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proven stakeholder management abilities

  • Analytical ability and sound judgment

  • Strong aptitude for learning

  • Strong focus on quality of work and attention to detail

  • Professional experience in Legal/Intellectual property/trade mark

  • Technical skills (Microsoft Office, Share Point)
