Shell Trading & Supply has a global portfolio of crude oil, refined products, LNG, chemicals natural gas, electrical power and CO2. Trading offices are located in the US, Canada, UK, Singapore, The Netherlands, Japan, Barbados, Dubai and Russia, with many other downstream entities situated across the globe.
The Claims Team provides commercial claims advice, negotiation and resolution for Quantity & Quality, Shipping, Casualty and Insurance Claims to Shell Trading and Supply and other Downstream entities. The team works closely with Regional Fuels Product Quality and Loss Control communities, as well as stakeholders and supporting functions in the T&S businesses, playing a key role in proactively and reactively mitigating exposure, and maximizing recoveries, arising from QQI claim events.
Key to becoming a successful Claims Specialist is to minimize the impact of cost claims and maximize the recovery of pursued claims, within the contractual agreements. Accountabilities:
As a ClaimsSpecialistyou will:

Investigate the events of crude quantity claims, including checking what is in the contractual agreement around costs and taking appropriate action to mitigate against and prevent exposure for Shell.

Prepare quantity and quality claims with third parties and other Shell entities to maximize income for Shell while reducing costs paid out by Shell.

Work on cargoes traded by one of Shell Trading Offices, but also collaborate Loss Control Colleagues to provide additional support and/or resolve claims with other Shell Trading offices where required.

Ensure timely recovery of claims and correct reflection of all activities and financial implication in trading systems; deliver value and profit retention to the bottom line through claim negotiation and attention to detail in the claims process.

Effectively manage key stakeholders and collaborate across a global team

Prepare monthly/quarterly reports and trends analysis.

Manage and monitor sanctions process according to Compliance requirements. Additionally, work to automate controls so that risk is reduced.
Requirements:

University Degree level or equivalent work experience

Exposure to working with and influencing global stakeholders and counterparties via remote communication

Evidence of ability to identify the root cause of problems and generate / support creative solutions to those problems
