Reporting to Aon’s Global Privacy Office, Privacy by Design Specialist is accountable for supporting privacy by design activities, including advising on privacy impact assessments for new and innovative uses of data, performing cross border data transfer impact assessments, and maintaining documentation to evidence Aon’s commitment to compliance with privacy by design principles. The person in this role will provide practical advice to Aon business and shared services leaders on their privacy and data protection risks.

The Privacy Specialist will work within the Global Privacy Office and should be passionate about privacy. You will be counseling business partners, tracking personal data throughout its lifecycle, identifying data privacy and security risks and advising on commercial solutions to mitigate those risks. The job entails getting deeply involved with ensuring that Aon’s business operations are designed, built and maintained in a way that aligns with applicable data privacy obligations.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate to review initiatives for compliance with privacy laws, conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and develop solutions that address privacy risks.
  • Work to perform and advise on cross border data transfer impact assessments (DTIAs)
  • Maintain and tie assessments to Aon’s Records of Processing Activities and assessment standard operating procedures.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with members of the Global Privacy Office and the business and work proactively with them to identify, mitigate and address privacy risks.
  • Help support projects crafted to maintain awareness throughout the organization of Aon’s approach to privacy and dedication to its privacy obligations globally

Requirements:

  • 3+ years relevant experience with a focus in privacy, data security and data protection law and regulation, especially the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and European case law
  • Excellent English – min C1 level
  • CIPP certified, or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge
  • Experience conducting privacy impact assessments, performing cross border data transfer impact assessments, or other data-related assessments in a complex organization
  • Experience with interpreting and implementing GDPR compliance programs preferred
  • Experience with using OneTrust preferred but not essential
  • You are a self-motivated teammate with the ability to learn quickly, identify privacy risks and resolve legal and business issues, drive projects and earn the confidence of the partners you work with
  • You can work independently but also like to be part of a diverse team, collaborating to achieve common business objectives
