Is relocation worth your attention?

We all hate the process of moving but sometimes it is worth taking the risk. If you already are in Poland, relocation is more and more often offered to employees as a boost to further their professional development. What makes an offer attractive enough for an employee to even consider relocation in Poland?

Labour shortages

The current job market in Poland suffers from labour shortages, confirms the data from the Polish Central Statistical Office. A recruitment agency Antal comments that although relocation is not always the most desirable solution for a company, it is nevertheless an increasingly common choice, and already one out of seven candidates is being relocated. What is stressed is that not only companies engage themselves in the process – it is often cities that focus on attracting employees to work.

Relocation and financial compensation

Money is the most convincing factor for employees of Poland-based companies. One-off bonuses as well as continued support in the months following the relocation are both appreciated. The first benefit is offered by 34 per cent of Polish employers, according to Antal, while 17 per cent go for the latter option.

By the way, what is the minimum wage in Poland?
And what are salaries in Polish business centres like?

Specialists may expect bonuses between PLN 2,500 and 10,000 gross, with the average of PLN 4,400 gross. For managers it is higher – the relocation package usually amounts to PLN 5,700-16,000, with the average of PLN 6,450 gross.

According to Antal analysts, businesses that can offer the highest relocation benefits are IT, manufacturing and BPO/SSC.

Support in practice

Apart from money, there are basic daily bits that need to be sorted out before or right after the move: renting a new flat, moving or arranging a new school for children. 22 per cent of employers in Poland finance their employee a new apartment, while 11 per cent pay for a hotel before they find something permanent. It is also possible that your new boss will help you with the move and transportation to a new city or finding kindergarten/school for your kid, but definitely less common. If you happen to work in IT, it is very likely you will be allowed to work remotely or have your company sponsor a ticket home once a month, according to Antal's research.

Have you ever been offered any of such benefits while working in Poland?
