To further the understanding of the choices, be they financial or culinary, Poles make during Easter, loan company Provident surveyed 1008 Polish residents. And here is what they had to say.

How much money will Poles spend this Easter?

According to the Provident’s survey, this Easter Polish people plan to spend on average 30 PLN less than they did in 2023.

While most Poles can expect their wallets to be about 568,8 PLN lighter, the exact amount varies. While more than one in four people surveyed plans on exceeding this amount, around half (56,3%) expect the Easter expenses to be comparable to those of previous years. Among those aiming to retain similar spending levels, certain customer behaviors can be indicated:

  • 31,4% – will save by buying cheaper substitutes,
  • 30% – will take advantage of promotions,
  • 32,4 % – will not buy all the necessary products,
  • Around 20% – will cut spending by celebrating in a smaller group.

Who will spend the most money?

The financial impact of Easter will not be felt by all equally. Some will spend significantly more, like:

  • 838 PLN – the residents of the Lubuskie region,
  • 625 PLN – respondents in the 45-54 age range.

The most common reasons behind the increased expenses include:

  • 13% – of respondents will use more expensive products in 2024,
  • 10% – justify the higher costs of Easter with the role of the host,
  • 6,6% – associate the increased spending with the expansion of the family.

Who will pay the least?

For others, Easter will be much less bothersome financially. For the youngster in the 18-24 age bracket:

  • 46,7% – of responders will not celebrate Easter at all
  • 263 PLN – is their average Easter budget, which amounts to the lowest average amount from all of the separate age groups

What will Poles eat on Easter?

Now that we‘ve discussed the spending patterns that Poles are expected to follow this Easter, other questions seem to arise: What will Poles use all this money for, exactly?

The short answer is – food, mostly.

The long answer indicates that for Polish people there are certain dishes, that the responders considered indispensable during Easter, such as:

  • 84,6% – boiled eggs
  • 56,9% – white sausage
  • 53% – żurek (sour soup)
  • 49 % – smoked meats

When it comes to desserts, Poles tend to prefer:
